Thank you to everyone who came along and supported our Christmas Fayre
The annual Martha Trust Christmas Fayre was held at The Sandwich Guildhall on Saturday. Father Christmas was in residence for the day and was helped by his trusty elves Martha Trust Finance Assistant Belinda Holness and her daughter Biff.
Stalls sold out in advance of the event with 28 different displays ranging from hand-made Christmas decorations, candles, soaps, cards, jewellery, jams & chutneys, stocking fillers and much more.
The Rock Choir entertained crowds outside on the square, and encouraged people to visit the stalls upstairs and to enjoy tea and coffee and a range of cakes kindly sponsored by Sainsbury’s in Deal. Local residents also made delicious cakes to sell.
Martha ran a colouring competition to which they received nearly 100 entries . TheMayor and Mayoress of Sandwich were on hand to judge the entries- there were 3 winners in each category. Winners will have their prizes presented to them at their schools.
New for this year, local business Drink Outside the Box which is a converted horsebox bar- served Christmas themed drinks and snacks and donated 20% of their profits to Martha. Directors Mitch Taylor- Wilson and Megan Boulton have chosen Martha as their Charity to give ongoing support to.
The event was sponsored by Barclays colleague Karen Syrett with her match funding, Discovery Park and NWR Ltd.
Fundraising & Events Officer Kerry Banks said “A huge you to everyone who came along on the day including The Mayor and Mayoress of Sandwich, the maintenance men for all their assistance and Town Sargent Kevin at the Guildhall for all his help, to our Sponsors and to the Martha Trust volunteers who made cakes, poured tea and coffee and generally made the day a success. The event raised over £2,850, a fantastic sum that will help Martha Trust transform the lives of people with profound disabilities.
