Fourth year of our Golf fundraiser is an enormous success

Our annual golf day at Walmer and Kingsdown Golf club in association with John Shepherd was once again a huge success raising over £6300 for Martha. Despite being a bit chilly it remained mostly dry throughout the day.

Taking first place was ‘Team Faye Amos’, scoring an impressive 112 points. In close second place was ‘Team Wards & Gillards’ scoring 111 points and in third place with 101 was ‘Team David Tilman’ .
Nearest the Pin, were won by James Stiles John Shepherd, Richard Phillips and John Bennett.

The auction was brilliantly hosted by John Stockey of Clive Emson Auctioneers and included some incredible prizes including 4 balls at Chart Hills, Canterbury, The Addington Club and Clandon Regis plus an overnight stay at the newly refurbished Goodwins Suite at The Clarendon Hotel and Bar.

Fundraising & Events Officer Kerry Rubins from Martha said ‘We are delighted that the day was such an enormous success and are so grateful to the golfing community for rallying around to help us stage such a special day. Despite the forecast looking grim, the weather held out for all our golfers apart from a few spots of rain. We are incredibly grateful to the Walmer & Kingsdown Golf Club, to West Indies cricketer John Shepherd for his ongoing support of Martha, all the players, sponsors, auction and raffle donators ”

The parents of one of the Martha residents Jeannette & Chris Goulding came down from Clandon Regis with six teams and made a very moving speech at the golf dinner regarding the care and support their daughter receives at Martha.
